Benton Williams

Managing Partner

Benton has experience working with and evaluating businesses across a broad range of industries and sizes. Prior to Flag Tree, Benton worked for Tinicum Capital, a $1.2 billion investment partnership, where he was responsible for sourcing and evaluating deals and working closely with the management teams of portfolio companies. Prior to Tinicum, he worked for eBay Inc. as a manager in the business development and Internet marketing department and with Mercer Management Consulting (now known as Oliver Wyman) as a management consultant. Benton holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Michael Cohen

Managing Partner

Michael has significant experience acquiring, managing, and improving service and manufacturing businesses. Prior to co-founding Flag Tree, Michael worked for Cameron Corporation in a variety of strategy, marketing, M&A, and operations roles. Michael’s merger and acquisition experience at Cameron included targets with revenues ranging from under $1 million to over $500 million. After completing acquisitions, he took direct operating roles within the acquired companies to execute process improvements, systems integration, and personnel development. During his tenure at Cameron, the Valves & Measurement division more than quadrupled in size, with significant expansion in operating margins. Michael has completed Six Sigma Greenbelt training, and holds degrees in Chemical Engineering and Economics from Rice University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
